Ventirati is an atmospheric rock band blending elements of post-punk, gothic, art rock, and folk into a uniquely haunting and intellectual soundscape. Founded in Athens, Greece, around the year 2000, the band draws deep inspiration from world mythology, classic literature, and ancient to contemporary philosophy—infusing every note with storytelling. The current lineup features Stefanos Katifeoglou, Sotiris Tagalos, Spyros Drogitis, Spyros Hondroyiannis, and Georgios Shinas. After an early wave of live shows, radio appearances, and demo recordings, Ventirati took a long hiatus since 2005. The band reformed in 2019 with renewed energy and broader musical influences, creating new material and performing again in Athens and Thessaloniki. In September 2024, Ventirati released their long-awaited debut album “Victorian” under the label Sleaszy Rider SRL. The album marks a new chapter in the band’s artistic journey, exploring dark romanticism, introspection, and human struggle through intricate musical arrangements. Today, Ventirati continues to record and perform, for their audience with a style that transcends genres—an embodiment of gothic ethos, poetic depth, and alternative spirit.
Ventirati (Venti Irati = Wrathful Winds in Latin), were formed in 2000, when Stephen Catifeoglou (guitars, voice) with Sotiris Tagalos (bass, voice) and Konstantinos Domenicos (drums) joined their common influences and begun songwriting. With lyrical concepts from classic/modern literature, mainly cursed romantic poetry and occult traditions and with musical references from the alternative scene (gothic rock, dark wave, folk, art rock and psychobilly), the band managed to form a personal style.
Between 2000-2005, Ventirati had a consistent presence in the alternative rock scene of Greece with several live appearances at music stages of Athens and open air festivals/youth events, as well as radio/live broadcasts, which reached the peak with demo recordings of that period.
In 2005, the band split up due to several obligations and dilemmas. Nevertheless, the founding members kept rarely collaborating for short-term projects, together or each one alone, within other musical genres, also. However they did not quit songwriting as well as promoting the existing material in a demo album version, entitled “Et in Arcadia Ego”, which received favorable critics. Also, the band of that first period, is referenced in the book of Nick Drivas ” Release the bats” (2012).
In 2019, having some new material in hand, the opportunity is given to the band to become active again through the musical events, with the assistance of Stratos Gabriel on drums (basic member of punk rock band ΤΣΟΠ!), and the first after 14 years live performance in Remedy live club, along with the garage rock n roll band, Blue Night Trip.
In the following period the band focused on the new material with Nikos Anastasakis on drums. Simultaneously, some songs of the first period were released as videos on youtube, like “Le Revenant”, in production and montage by Dimitris Chapel, through the official youtube channel of the band.
Since 2021, the band started recording new material and on 25 June 2022, they released the promo video clip for the song “Sin City” (again, in production-montage by Dimitris Chapel and Carmen Mola) with the goal to promote an upcoming album. The song has been broadcasted very frequently at local and international radio shows and received appreciation by the gothic rock (yet not restricted to) community worldwide.
The band was joined in September 2022 by Spyros Droggitis (keyboards) and Ioannis Skordos (drums) who supported several live acts in stages of Athens and who also participated in songwriting.
The first official release took place in September 2024 with the album “Victorian”, by record label Sleaszy Rider SRL, which was also most welcomed by the Gothic Rock audience, among others, worldwide and highly ranked on top favourites of the international dark scene, from several independent and commercial media. From that moment and until today, they have delivered several live shows in Athens and Thessaloniki as well as Radio and Press interviews.
On April 2025, the band was joined by Spyros Hondroyiannis on drums and Georgios Shinas on lead/rythm guitars. The band’s live, recording and radio activities are going on…
